The recent heavy rain and consequent flooding has caused devastation in many regions across our State.
The REIQ has contacted dozens of principals of REIQ accredited agencies in affected areas to offer support and advice.
Although in some areas the full extent of the damage is not yet known, members in other regions, such as Emerald, have reported damage to a high number of properties from their rent roll. Many will require complete refurbishment.
It is important that members in affected areas, and throughout the State, are aware of their obligations and the responsibilities of lessors to tenants in natural disaster situations.

Only a small number of members thus far have reported damage to their office premises and equipment, which serves as a timely reminder to all members to ensure their insurance policies are comprehensive and up-to-date.
