Routine Inspections are a vital part of a role within the Property Management profession. Their purpose is to give both the owner & manager of the property a clear indication as to the current condition of the property (during a tenancy). As an assistant to Brooke Brent here at SPACE I have been allocated this role. I must say I do enjoy routines, but like anything they can become a little repetitive over time. About a month or so ago now I went to conduct an inspection at a property we manage in Ashgrove, like most other properties it was a standard inspection. However as I was leaving I noticed an envelope on the kitchen bench. In this envelope there was the following letter;

Dear Space Agent,

We are minding a guinea – pig for our friends while they are on holidays. We will only have the guinea pig for two weeks.

Hope that’s ok with you.

P.S Her name is Lily. Please don’t shift her.

Thanks J

I suppose it would be up to the individual who found this letter what they thought of it.  Personally it made my day! I shared this will all my colleagues.  In fact, the letter has now been fixed to the wall near my desk (and will not being moved anytime soon).  My point is that a routine inspection like this takes away their repetitive nature. It shows sometimes a fresh take on things can make all the difference.
