The unfortunate closure of a popular Ashgrove business has caused quite a stir amongst many home businesses operating under residential zoning. As the business owners found out, it only takes one complaint – in this case about parking – to close down a successful operation.
The attempt to rezone the building to a home based business over 100m2 was blocked leaving no option but to relocate. Operators should consult the guidelines listed on the BCC website before undertaking a home based business.
