It’s Saturday afternoon and you’ve been trawling through homes on the internet only to have one really leap out at you! So what is the ‘wow’ that makes us stop and really take notice?
Professional photography is an obvious one, a bit of a given really if you are serious about buyers stopping to take a look, but what about the new trend in home styling or ‘home staging’ as it’s known? Does it really work?
The short answer is yes, it absolutely does make a difference, and it can be a big one.
If the house is cluttered or tenanted or maybe just looking very lived in, it’s all too easy to be distracted by the ‘stuff’ instead of really seeing the property at it’s full potential. Home styling creates a sense of a simpler, uncluttered, and less complicated way of life – and isn’t that what we’re all craving? Almost without exception ‘staged’ homes achieve shorter days on market, and an excellent price outcome.
If home staging isn’t your go, just remember the old KISS principle – Keep it Simple Sweetie! De-cluttering is the key, but without stripping the personality out of the place.
