You’ve spent the weekend looking for your first home and every time you think you’ve found something interesting the agent tells you it’s already under contract. Frustrating huh? And even though you’ve set up email alerts for new properties everything decent is gone before you even find out about it!
How do you break the cycle and find out about these properties before they hit the internet (and are sold)?
Instead of trying to dodge the agent when they ask for your email address, maybe it’s worth giving it to them, as well as what you’re looking for, because getting yourself onto as many mailing lists as possible, will give you the opportunity to become more informed via personal newsletters and ‘sneak previews’.
At the end of the day I am interested in finding you the home of your dreams, and by giving just a little more information about yourself, I am able to contact you first and foremost before the listing hits the market, and slips away from you.

Hi Kathy
I agree with what you have to say, however I find often most agents don’t bother contacting me, so why should I bother? Also why should I give my email address to more than one agent from the same company? That confuses me, don’t you all share the same database?
Cheers, John
Hi John.
Well I guess it’s one way of identifying a professional agent. As for sharing properties, yes SPACE agents do, but a lot of other agencies don’t. At the end of the day, what have you got to lose – hopefully you’ll get regular info on properties and if not you can always unsubscribe.

Excellent advice Kathy,
I appreciate you taking the time to respond, most times people post blogs and don’t bother to respond when people ask questions or make comments…good work!
Cheers, John
