I was amazed this morning as I opened this month’s edition of REIQ’s Industry News to read that approximately 30,000 Queenslanders took advantage of the Federal Governments First Home Owners Boost (FHOB) initiative.
This figure demonstrates that the initiative, along with lower interest rates has helped many Queenslanders to ‘realise the dream’ and purchase their own home.
Currently the First Home Owners Boost is $10,500 for established homes and $14,000 for new homes. This will remain until the 1st January 2010 when the original $7,000 First Home Owners Grant will be reinstated.
With rental vacancies rates remaining tight across Australia – particularly in capital cities like Brisbane buying your first home seems like the safer and smarter option in the long term.
