SPACE PROPERTY AGENTS IS AN ACTIVE SUPPORTER OF THE COMMUNITY
Ongoing sponsorship activities to local Kindergartens and Schools ensure our future leaders have better resources to enjoy and prosper in their scholastic years.
On a broader scale SPACE Property Agents has continued its generous support through fundraising activities to heighten awareness of those less fortunate or to purchase much needed medical equipment.
SPACE Property Agents is gathering further momentum in establishing the ”SPACE Property Foundation’’ as the fundraising vehicle that will support a nominated charity each year.
SPACE Property Agents are now working together with local Brisbane charity, the Pyjama Foundation, to transform children’s lives through literacy.
Established in September 2004, the Pyjama Foundation recruits, screens, trains and supports volunteers from the community – “Pyjama Angels” – who visit their foster child each week to read with them, play educational games and help them with their homework. The focus is essentially on improving literacy levels however the results are that the children gain skills and confidence in themselves.
The Pyjama Foundation is committed to children in care having the same opportunities in life as other children by delivering a program that targets their literacy, learning and listening skills, boosting both self-confidence and self-esteem.
SPACE Property Agents recognises the importance of literacy in the community and have formed a relationship with Bronwyn Sheehan, Telstra Business Women of the Year and founder of the Pyjama Foundation, to work together to lessen this apparent inequality.
Director of SPACE Property Agents Nick Penklis said that reading to his children and being read to as a child was something he always took for granted. “Reading to your child is such a natural part of childhood. To be denied such an important learning tool at such an impressionable age is hard to accept,” Nick said.
“Our goal is to sponsor the recruitment and training of the Pyjama Angels. We are extremely passionate about making a difference to the lives of children in foster care and ecstatic with the results already achieved by the Pyjama Foundation. Bronwyn’s goal is for each child in foster care to have their own Pyjama Angel, which the SPACE team have wholeheartedly embraced.”
Together, SPACE Property Agents and the Pyjama Foundation look forward to making a positive, long term impact on the lives of children in care.
